Fueling this chaos was an inexplicable failure to commit to staying out of society and wearing a mask, both of which have been proven valuable in slowing contagion. There is no valid vaccine - a few months or a year away - those are the only weapons available to fight the disease. Instead of using them, people have become more enthralled with their politics than listening to health care professionals. Lately, I've been in a no better position to lead a memorial day honoring the 20 Northwell Health employees who fell to COVID-19. How humble it is to meet their family and listen to the painful feelings the situation caused. This pandemic has caused problems for many in our community and across New York.
